Water

Water is often overlooked as a vital nutrient. Water is a major component of the body. It acts as a means of transportation for the various chemicals in the system and the medium in which the various biochemical reactions among the basic nutrients take place.

The body is made up of 40 to 60% water. Muscle is composed of 72% water by weight, while fat weight is only 20 to 25% of water. This means that diets or other activities that result in excessive fluid loss have a significant effect on muscle size.
